Practical Physics

Bunsenburner
Practical Physics is a web site created by the Nuffield Curriculum Centre and the Institute of Physics. It provides full practical details of over 500 experiments for teachers and technicians.

Practical Chemistry

Practical Chemistry is a newer web site created by the Nuffield Curriculum Centre and the Royal Society of Chemistry. It also provides full practical details of a growing number experiments for teachers and technicians.

Plant Science

Science and Plants for Schools (SAPS) has a web site offering a wealth of ideas for investigations and activities with plants. There is a range of structured activities with supporting guidance and worksheets often based on low-cost equipment.

Biotechnology

The National Centre for Biotechnology Education (NCBE) has a web site from which you can download free details of protocols for biotechnology experiments and investigations. NCBE also sells the materials at reasonable prices.

Earth Science

The Joint Earth Science Education Initiative is a collaboration between the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the Institute of Biology (IoB), the Institute of Physics and the Earth Science Teachers’ Association (ESTA) which has prepared materials to help chemistry, biology and physics teachers with their teaching of Earth science.

Field work

London Outdoor Science offers support for fieldwork in KS4 science teaching in London schools. The web site provides practical guidance, training and resources to support teaching in local green spaces, such as parks and commons.
